About Interventions

Intervention is a process. The process includes taking a loving, gentle and non-threatening approach to present facts to a loved one or colleague in a way that allows him or her to see how they are negatively affecting their lives and others. Being clear and kind, the facts about how the Addicted Individual has been engaging in self-destructive behavior are presented by those people who have prepared themselves ahead of time for the process. The goal is that the Addicted Individual becomes willing to see and accept enough of the truth about his/her behavior that he/she agrees to seek help. The Intervention process should insure that the Addicted Individual know they are surrounded by people who care for his or her well-being.

It is important to seek assistance in planning and initiating an intervention. Several methods of intervention exist. All interventions should be conducted in a structured and compassionate manner. Depending on the circumstances, and the person in need, the Intervention process may be held over a course of months or a day. Interventions may be initiated by family, friends, co-workers, or anyone who wants to help someone stop the abuse and self-destructive behavior suffered by the addict. If you suspect a loved one or associate is battling addiction, it is advised to intervene as soon as possible. Addiction creates a pattern of chronic abuse and self-destructive behavior. The sooner the addict is presented with a concrete solution, the better the chances for their recovery. Contact us now to learn more about how to seek help.
